New Work: The Barn/House Series

New Work: The Barn/House Series
These new paintings are a synthesis of the landscape and abstraction motifs explored in previous works. The house/barn is both an icon and a metaphor.

While this solid shape is firmly planted upon the land, it is not observed from nature. This is a strange land, subtle and mysterious.

The house/barn may signify a jewel box of thoughts, or a memory that is cherished, evoking or holding something that is forever precious.

There is the dual ability for the landscapes to act as intense color studies, reminiscent of Rothko. Unusual color combinations challenge the idea of how light and color interact and are perceived in terms of the expected or assumed.
